He sired the Top Indexing Individual and Pen over all breeds at the July 1989 Iowa Swine Test Station Sale. This was also the all time Record Landrace Indexing Pen and the 14-1 boar was the all time Record Indexing Landrace Boar with the following performance: 135 days to 230 lb, 2.76 ADG, 0.96 BF, 5.60 LEA, 212 FE and 234 Index. The 14-1 boar was chosen as the Champion Landrace Tested Boar at the 1989 Summer Conference where he scanned 0.88 in of backfat at 390 lbs and sold for $2500.

MOUNTAIN also sired the Reserve Champion and Top Selling Gilt and was the Premier Sire at the 1989 Landrace Summer Conference. The record for Landrace pen index at the Iowa Test Station established by MOUNTAIN in 1989 was just recently (Dec. 1990) broken by another MOUNTAIN pen.

In 1990 MOUNTAIN also sired the Champion Tested Boars at the Southeast Conference and World Expo plus the $7200 NBS Hog College Boar and Hog College Gilt.

MOUNTAIN is sired by SGI 316 Morgan, who was the Premier Sire at the 1988 National Barrow Show. MOUNTAIN’s dam raised the 1986 Landrace Summer Type Conference Champion Gilt and always produced the fastest gaining pigs at R & R Landrace.

Mountain’s Maternal granddam was the 1984 Missouri State Fair Champion Gilt and a littermate sister to the parents of Genetic Giant. Her sire was a littermate to the sire of SGI 311 Adam.

When you study the pedigree of MOUNTAIN, it comes as no surprise that he is a heavy structured, big footed, wide sprung, tough and durable boar. He is also a very level designed, loose structured, sound boar with an excellent underline.
