  • Brooks and Dunn were the Hog College and Reserve Champion boars respectively at the 1996 50th Anniversary National Barrow Show.  These two boars combine extra extension of skeleton, lean-muscular shape, correctness of design with superior maternal attributes.
  •  Both boars are long faced, long fronted boars that are long sided with extra length from hip to hock.  When viewed down the top you admire the clean, expressively shaped loins and the flare and thickness of rump.  We have some concern with the number of Hampshires that are becoming very round-bubble butted with small, high tightly held testicles.
  • Wide walking boars, Brooks and Dunn are very expressive in their center ham and stifle muscling, yet have long-deep hams and correct testicle development and carriage.  Both are long, clean, flat boned boars that are sound and very functional in their design and movement.
  • Their sire, Deluxe, sired the Grand Champion Open Barrow and Champion Hampshire Junior Barrow at the 1996 Illinois State Fair and the Waldo Champion Crossbred and Reserve Grand Truckload at the 1996 National Barrow Show.  The Champion Carcass at the Gage County Fair out of over 400 head by Deluxe had 0.35 BF and a 9.13 LEA at 250 lb.  Deluxe is a big framed, heavy muscled boar that has bigness bred into him with Icon on the top side and Rail x the Mother of Icon on the bottom side.
  • Brooks and Dunn’s dam is a Hampshire Hall of Frame Sow and top ranking in Penner’s herd with a 131.3 SPI.  She has averaged 13.3 born live, 10.6 weaned 138 lb 21-day litter weight and a 146 day farrowing interval for seven parities.  She is also the mother of Franchise, the $15,000 1994 NBS Champion Boar.
  • Country and Western singers, Brooks and Dunn, have had numerous recent winners on the country and western charts.  We certainly feel that the Hampshire boars, Brooks and Dunn, can produce winners regardless whether you are interested in building better Hampshire, producing show pigs or using Hampshire in your maternal line.
