  • In seeking a replacement for the very popular and prepotent SGI sire, Muscle Mass, we felt fortunate to find a boar that was bred very similarly and had the same extra muscle volume and total leanness.  The added dividend with PORK CHOP is his more massive skeleton and superior rump structure in comparison to Muscle Mass.
  • PORK CHOP has a long, level, thick muscular rump and a deep full ham.  As his name implies and sonoray scan indicates, he exhibits superior muscle development and leanness to his shoulder and loin.  Howard stated in his catalog, "I have never had a boar with this kind of muscle, and still very sound."
  • PORK CHOP continued to stay lean after coming off test and scanned only 1.10 inches of backfat at 416 lbs.  Rudolph, the sire of PORK CHOP, has sired several champions; but more importantly, he has been very consistent in siring thick and muscular hogs that are not restricted in their mobility.
  • PORK CHOP is from a litter of 12 farrowed and 10 weaned with 122 lb 21-day litter weight.  His dam has averaged 9.7 farrowed and 8.5 weaned in six litters.
  • PORK CHOP sired the top indexing pen and the top indexing boar at the June 1986 Iowa Swine Testing Station sale.  The top indexing boar had the following performance figures:  2.86 ADG, 119 days/230, 234 FE, 0.78 BF, 5.96 LEA 237 index.
  • We feel that PORK CHOP should help you to increase muscling and leanness while maintaining superior growth, soundness, and reproductivity.
