Ivory is the result of one of the most consistent and outstanding matings ever in the Landrace breed.
-
Full brothers include the $6500 top selling boar at the 1990 World Pork Expo, $7500 boar exported to Japan in 1991, the $4500 top selling boar at the 1990 Summer Conference and the CR Ives 93-4, a junior herdsire at Cedar Ridge with 0.51 Bf, 8.0 LEA and 130 days to 230 lb. Ives 93-4 is rapidly making a name for himself in the breeding pen. Eight of the top ten boars in the last contemporary group of 81 boars at Cedar Ridge were sired by 93-4. Numerous other outstanding boars and a number of gilts retained at Cedar Ridge have also resulted from the 7 matings of Ives of K 223-5 and CR Joyce 115-2. Foreign visitors that SGI has taken to Cedar Ridge have marveled at Ives of K 223-5. Of all the herd boars at Cedar Ridge, he had the best STAGES Terminal Sire Index as well as Maternal Line Index until surpassed in the last summary by his son and full brother to IVORY, Ives 93-4. Ives 223-5 also ranked 4th overall among Landrace boars in Maternal Line Index and 5th in Terminal Sire Index in the Landrace Crossherd Sire Summary. A truly great boar, SGI has tried without success to own or lease Ives 223-5.

We have also tried to own full brother to Ivory being contending bidder on the $6500 1990 World Expo boar and allowing our customer to have the $7500 93-7, a boar we truly wanted.
-
There were six outstanding boars in Ivory’s litter. As stated by Grohmans in Cedar Ridge’s November ad, they were big framed, long bodied, fast growing, lean and heavy muscled; yet heavy structured, big boned, big footed, loose structured, flexible and durable.
-
Ivory was the fastest growing, biggest framed, longest bodied, most massive boar of the six littermates with that herd boar look to him.
-
Ivory’s dam has averaged 9.7 weaned with 145 lb 21-day litter weight for 7 parities. As indicated earlier, SGI has been searching for a top son of Ives of K 223-5.

We feel Ivory, like his namesake, is a rare and valuable commodity well worth the wait. Combining outstanding phenotype with excellent performance and very consistent proven superior heritage, we are expecting great things of Ivory in terms of making fast growing, lean, muscular Landrace that will maintain the maternal superiority of Landrace.
