No doubt, whatever the breed of the female element, crossing with the Pietrain breed is sure to bring a substantial improvement in the quality of the carcass end product
The Pietrain race gets its name from the village where the black and white swine has been bred since 1920. Noted for their extreme leanness and characterized by a high degree of muscle mass and expression with their muscle weight/carcass weight ratio higher than in any other species known. Carcass differentials have ranged in premium from $10.00 to $20.00 per pig
Now for your consideration take a look at SGI 9006 Steinbach 34-4, our newest pure Pietrain added to SGI's stud bank
Unrelated and outcross breeding on the top side of his pedigree from pure German imported lines
Steinbach perpetuates excellent structure, soundness, leanness and muscle in a wide based attractive phenotype. He is smooth behind his shoulders and level in his top line. His hind legs move with ease and motion
He is by far the very best Pietrain boar to date that has ever been housed at SGI in terms of balance, flexibility and structural soundness from front to rear
Square to the ground standing on even toes, excellent tight sheath with a 14 teat count and excellent quality and softness of his underline
The pedigree offers a different and new outcross line of breeding for our customer base to incorporate
Rilgo, his imported sire, boasted positive EPD's for daily gain, feed conversion, carcass length and percent lean through the German recording systems
The maternal side of Steinbach's lineage goes back to SGI 985 GM Wide Tracker 18-3 whose dam has farrowed and weaned a 10.3 born alive average in her first three parities to date. Her heritage traces back to the SGI 968 GM Klams 69-1 sire that stood at SGI a few years back. This line originated through Lone Willow Genetics with the population of the LW Klams 949 sire line. Also on the maternal side of Klams 949 through the "Gachet" sow family there is an added asset of the direct imported pure Pietrain female that was a foundation matron for the Lone Willow genetic program
Don't overlook Steinbach for lean muscle contributions
